Call this a new Old-Fashioned. I replace the dated syrupy orange liqueur with fresh agave, which is essentially a citrus-type honey grown in the arid hillsides of Mexico.

Recipe information

  • Yield

    serves 2

Ingredients

4 ounces (1/2 cup) Cognac, such as Courvoisier VS
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) agave nectar
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 lemon wedges

Preparation

  1. Combine the Cognac, agave, and lemon juice in a shaker with ice; shake it up really well to break the ice into shards. Strain the cocktail into 2 chilled martini glasses and garnish each with a lemon wedge.
